All-taxa listing

The listing pages have now moved to here.

I realised that my name ‘All-taxa listing’ was not very good. ‘Taxa’ refers to any unit of taxonomic classification (e.g. Kingdom, Class, Genus, Species, Subspecies) whereas only species count as ticks on your list. What I really meant was ‘All-taxonomic-group listing’ but of course that’s too much of a mouthful. ‘Prokaryote species list’ would be more accurate but I can’t see that catching on! So, after thinking about several alternatives, I decided on ‘Pan-species listing’.

I dont keep a British list as such but I have photographed over 19,000 species of living things altogether (i,e, from outsde the UK as well). Just to show what can be achieved in a small area I have recorded 1543 naturally occurring species of living organisms from my own village – Clifton in Bedfordshire, which lacks any woodland!
